Buying one good thing takes six hours you don't have.

The "best of" list gives you ten picks and a place to start. It doesn't give you an answer.

Reddit might have what you're looking for, but it's spread out over multiple threads from a few years ago.

ChatGPT replies in ten seconds, with the same answer it gave the last person.

The one you actually like is only sold online and costs $400.

How it works

1.

Tell us what you're looking for.

Take five minutes on what you're looking to buy. How you'll use it, what you've owned before, and what you're willing to spend.

2.

Get three matches within 24 hours.

Each match detailing why this is the product just for you.

3.

Not right? Tell us why.

Say what's off, or change an answer you'd reconsider, and we'll match you again.

We prove why each match is right for you.

Every match comes with the thinking behind it.

First, we show why each match fits what you're looking for.

Kestrel Ridge Traverse 55

Slate Green · Medium

Buy at Alpenglow $285 Other buying options from $250

“You're carrying a borrowed 65L that comes home half empty. I'd rather put you in something you can't overpack. This one is sized almost exactly to a four-day Sierra kit with the canister lying flat, and the belt comes in fixed lengths, which is why it'll sit better than the one you've been borrowing.”

Margaret Oyelaran

Why this one

The canister lies flat in the main compartment

Required where you're going, and this is the only pack of the three where it doesn't eat the top third.

Two fixed torso lengths, not one adjustable range

Your 18.5 in measurement sits solidly in the medium. A pack that fits in a fixed size carries better than one adjusted to fit.

A pound heavier than the lightest 55L

The weight is frame and hipbelt structure, and it's the reason it carries a loaded four-day kit comfortably.

Alder Vantage 48

Basalt · Medium

Buy at Trailhead $240 Other buying options from $240

“If you're mostly out for two or three nights, this is the one I'd carry. It's the lightest of the three and the cheapest, and the only reason it isn't first is the canister — it'll only ride vertically, which costs you the top of the pack.”

Questions.

Why does it take 24 hours?

This is more than applying filters you find on any e-commerce site. Every match is put together against your specific answers, and that takes time. If you're in a hurry, you can get your first match in two hours for a small fee.

Is this AI?

We don't use AI to generate matches.

Why not just ask an AI chatbot?

It's fast, and it'll give you an answer in seconds. It'll also give you a different answer if you ask again, recommend things that went out of production, and agree with whatever you push back with. It's answering a question. It isn't accountable for the outcome.

What if the matches aren't right?

Tell us what's off — too expensive, wrong use case, you already own something similar — or go back and change an answer you'd reconsider. We'll match you again.

How many times can I re-match?

We'll let you re-match up to 30 days from your first request.

Do I need an account?

Yes. You'll create one before the questions so we can send your matches and you can get back to them later.

Do I have to buy through your links?

No. We give you the brand and the exact product. Buy it wherever you like.

What do you do with my answers?

We use them to match you. We don't sell them.

Stop the endless research. Get the product you're looking for.
